What city was the center of imperial life in the Roman Empire in the early 5th century?

I believe the answer you are looking for may be "Carthage"

What city was the center of imperial life in the Roman Empire in the early 5th century?
If you are referring to the 5th century A.D. that would be Constantinople.
Reply:Sudo nominus is right-if it's BCE (before Christian era) go with Rome-but it was a bit of a two bit dive in the 5th century BCE.
Reply:you could argue That up until 476 it was Rome really it depend son when in The 5th century you are talking. and what you are considering imperial life the eastern roman empire was pretty different from the west.

and BCE means before COMMON era and CE means COMMON era if you are going to use the abbreviations at least know what they mean. CE and BCE are used in history to show impartiality there for using christian in them defeats the whole purpose.
