How would the Democrats today of behaved if confronted by Hitler, Mussolini, Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan?

They probably would want to take a vote and see if it would be popular to use our military against Japan. After a few of our soldiers were killed, they would want to surrender. As for Hitler and Mussolini, they would feel no need to get involved. They just wouldn't be able to grasp the concept that Hitler would want to destroy us along with anyone he didn't like such as the Jews, the Pols, and the handicapped.

Are the imperial guard good?

I am finding it very hard to choose a warhammer army to start with and im going to the shop tomorrow. At the moment im thinking about collecting: Imperial guard, chaos marines or necrons OR an eldar force (either). Can someone give me some suggestions on which army would be good?

Id like a army fun to paint (not too complicated), easy-medium rules and an army that people would want fighting beside them. Could you also include if people like imperial guard fighting with them!

Thanks A LOAD!

Are the imperial guard good?
Imperial Guard Overview:

The Imperial Guard army is one of the oldest, and most respected, armies in the game of Warhammer 40K. New and veteran hobbyists and gamers alike are drawn to the unique nature of the Guard, and with good reason. Not only can the Imperial Guard dominate the field of battle, but the Imperial Guard army can look darn good doing it, too.

Strengths

The vast majority of IG commanders will list the army’s greatest strength as one of two possibilities; Infantry, or Tanks.

For a basic trooper, the Imperial Guardsman does not seem like a great bargain, having mediocre stats at best, and coming equipped with a lasgun (often referred to as a ‘flashlight’ in recognition of the weapon’s damage potential), and flak armor (also, rarely of much use) as standard. Their biggest strength, and what some would comment as the IG’s biggest strength, is that a full 10-man squad, well equipped with a heavy weapon and an assault/special weapon, will average about 80pts. A full, well equipped, platoon of 55 men can run less than 500 points, while many opposing armies of 1500pts and more cannot boast as many models. This makes the IG a very resilient army, and more importantly for the enemy, this resilience makes the IG’s heavy weapons very difficult to silence.

For the treadheads (or tank lovers), the only possible choice for the army’s greatest strength would be, of course, the Tanks of the Imperial Guard. The ability to field such a vast number of hard-as-rocks tanks without restricting your army to any specific playing style or theme is something to be considered when choosing and designing an army. Not only should the heavy support options of the various Leman Russ main battle tanks and Basilisks be considered, but also the fast attack options of the Hellhounds and Sentinels and the troop choices’ allotments of Chimeras. The amount of firepower these vehicles can unleash in a single turn of shooting can decimate an entire army twice the size. The sheer intimidation such an army imposes is often a telling factor during the game. And, for those who wish to use only tanks, the IG Armored Company is always a strong alternative, though not always permitted in tournament play.

Weaknesses

In many minds, the poor abilities (stats) of the Guardsman are the weakest aspect of the IG army. This weakness is also what gives the army its unique flavor, and why so many gamers can empathize with the Guardsman’s plight. Others believe that the IG’s reliance on stationary heavy weapons makes for a weak force than can be easily overcome with stealthy tactics. Still, even more gamers feel that the IG’s reliance on vehicles to win a game is the IG’s biggest weakness, as so much of the army can be reduced to smoking hulks of twisted metal in a single round of anti-tank firepower. And while all three views are correct to some extent, the application of all three ‘weaknesses’ in an IG army will often negate each view. While not often successfully employed, the mutual support of the various units in an IG army will cancel out the most commonly exploited weaknesses in the army.

Difficulty of Play %26amp; Overall Competitiveness

The Imperial Guard has something to offer both the novice and veteran gamer. Defensive armies utilizing the ‘castle’ formation are often easier to use effectively than the ever popular and ubiquitous Space Marine armies, offering the opportunity to learn the various aspects of game play without suffering through defeat after defeat while progressing through the learning process. Drop Troop forces offer the same benefit, to a degree, while incorporating a bit more in-game excitement. For the veteran gamer, finding success with a Mechanized force should prove challenging against most opponents, as would a Death World Veterans (or Catachan) army.

Generally the IG is regarded as a hobbyist’s army rather than a gamer’s army. The IG can be quite competitive, though the army tends to be the favorite of those who love to convert and paint large forces rather than those who love to dominate the field of battle during tournament play. In truth, the army is very flexible and can perform well in both areas. Only effort and ability can determine just how far the army can progress. As for what some gamers would term ‘cheesy or beardy’, the IG Codex is considered to be very balanced and rarely is the target of such accusations.

Playing Style %26amp; Theme

The use of specific doctrines, or lack of doctrines altogether, can emphasize the playing style and theme of an Imperial Guard army. Just a few changes to the choice of doctrines can dramatically alter the performance of an army.

The ‘typical’ Imperial Guard performs best in defensive roles. A large firebase of basic troops supported by heavy weapons squads and main battle tanks, rank up in a ‘castle’ formation which then dominates a large area of the gaming table by sheer volume of firepower. Small supporting squads of Rough Riders, Hardened Veterans, Ogryns, or Storm Troopers provide counter-assault capabilities. No doctrines are required to successfully implement such a playing style, though Sharpshooters and Close Order Drill are commonly found in such armies.

An all infantry army can make very efficient use of the Light Infantry doctrine, allowing the entire army to infiltrate into ideal positions before the first turn of the game. While still defensive in nature, infiltrating armies tend to be in the thick of things a bit sooner and will require more counter assault capability.

Armies equipped with the Drop Troops doctrine can deep strike entire platoons, armed with an assortment of anti-infantry and anti-tank weaponry, into the enemy deployment zone. Very offensive in nature, Drop Troop forces are excellent for taking objectives and making things generally difficult for the opposing army. The ‘risk verses rewards’ concept is a very real concern for commanders of Drop Troop forces, as poor timing, placement, or luck can spell defeat before contact with the enemy is achieved.

Mechanized armies are also possible, and an ideal way for treadheads to incorporate infantry into their armies. Mechanized armies perform well in both defensive and offensive roles, having massed firepower, mobility, and armor in abundance. These forces tend to be smaller than most other IG armies, and must keep the reduction of enemy anti-tank capability in the forefront of their battle plan.

In addition to the options listed in the Codex: Imperial Guard, the IG are available to all Inquisitor Ordos codices currently published, as well as various ‘traitor’ lists such as the ‘Lost and the Damned’.

Sample Army Lists

Starting out with an IG army in mind is often a bit more difficult than with most other armies. The unique command and platoon structure of this army often limits what can be done at smaller point values. Though the choice of doctrines can greatly influence what can be done, a typical ‘Codex’ Imperial Guard force at 500pts might look a lot like the list below.

Imperial Guard Basic Regiment @ 500pts

Command Squad

-=-Senior Officer w/ Power Weapon, Laspistol, Carapace Armor

--=-- Command Squad w/ Standard, Meltagun, Missile Launcher Team

Infantry Platoon

-=- Junior Officer w/ Power Weapon, Plasma Pistol, Carapace Armor

--=-- Command Squad w/ 4 Flamers

-=- Infantry Squad w/ Sergeant, Heavy Bolter, Plasmagun

-=- Infantry Squad w/ Sergeant, Heavy Bolter, Plasmagun

Armoured Fist

-=- Fist Squad w/ Sergeant, Heavy Bolter, Plasmagun

--=-- Chimera w/ Multilaser, Hull Heavy Flamer

This small army contains the required one HQ choice and 2 Troop choices from the force organization chart. It maintains mobility with the Armoured Fist squad with Chimera, and boasts 40 infantry, 1 vehicle, and 5 scoring units in a tight little package.

After getting a feel for the army, and its capabilities, it will be time to expand. The most common opponents will often dictate which units are chosen, but such an army at 1000pts may look similar to this.

Imperial Guard Basic Regiment @ 1000pts

Command Squad (6)

-=- Senior Officer w/ Power Weapon, Laspistol, Carapace Armour

--=-- Command Squad w/ Standard, Meltagun, Missile Launcher Team

--=-- Sanctioned Psyker w/ Laspistol, Close Combat Weapon

Storm Troopers (10)

-=- Sergeant w/ Helpistol, Close Combat Weapon

Infantry Platoon (36)

Armoured Fist (11)

-=- Fist Squad w/ Sergeant, Heavy Bolter, Plasmagun

Sentinel Squadron (2)

-=- Cadia-Class Sentinels w/ Autocannons

Leman Russ Main Battle Tank (1)

-=- Leman Russ w/ Battlecannon, Hull Heavy Bolter, Sponson Heavy Bolters

The army, now at 1000pts contains 1 battle tank, 1 transport, and 2 scout walkers as well as 62 infantry. The total of scoring units is now 10. This army can now place a formidable firebase on the table while also keeping its mobility thanks to the deepstriking Storm Troopers, scouting Sentinels, and the Armoured Fist. More of the flavor of this army shows now that the Sanctioned Psykers make their presence known, adding a bit of random surprise to the game.

By the time the army is tournament ready, a force resembling the army listed below can be fielded to take on all comers and achieve victory.

Imperial Guard Basic Regiment @ 2000pts

Command Squad (7)

-=- Heroic Senior Officer w/ Power Weapon, Laspistol, Carapace Armour, Refractor Field

--=-- Command Squad w/ Standard, Meltagun, 2 Flamers

Leman Russ Main Battle Tank (1)

-=- Leman Russ w/ Battlecannon, Hull Heavy Bolter, Sponson Heavy Bolters

Leman Russ Main Battle Tank (1)

-=- Leman Russ w/ Battlecannon, Hull Heavy Bolter

The army above is more than capable of handling itself against most every opposing army out there. With 111 infantry, 6 vehicles and 18 scoring units, this army will be difficult to wipe out. The addition of secondary support elements, like the second Leman Russ, the additional Storm Trooper squad, and the fire support squads, just improve upon the firebase that was already there in the 1000pt list. The additional troop choices boost the resilience of the army while the Priests define the counter-assault mission of the units to which they’ve been attached. The army may not look impressive to many Space Marine players out there, but this happens to be my army list and has won multiple tourney games against several varied Marine armies.

Modeling %26amp; Converting Opportunity

Mordian, Valhallan, Tallarn, Cadian, Catachan, Death Korps, Elysian, and Praetorian are just some of the various models that are, or have been, in production to represent just the basic troop of the Imperial Guard. These models go a long way in representing the theme of an IG army, and can really make heads turn when displayed as a completed force.

The army also boasts some of the best vehicles in the game, with regard to both in-game performance, and modeling opportunities. With the various vehicles based off of both the Leman Russ and Chimera chassis, it can be quite difficult to fit one of each in a singe army. Toss in the various Sentinel designs, and such interesting tidbits from Tarantula sentry guns to the Imperial Navy fighters, bombers and transports, and the army has near limitless conversion opportunity.
Reply:Hello well Imperial Guard are great if you have plenty of money to buy lots of models. And i mean lots. You can do very much with a guard army but you have to spent money. They die easy not very good armor but there are so many guardsmen its ok. Painting them is not too hard but its not easy. There are lots of things you need to know about guard. You can use guard in just an Imperial Guard army, you can use them in a Iquistion army. They are a good guy army just like Space Marines. I personaly enjoy a Guard player on my team.

Chaos as lots of rules with all there gods and that stuff but there easyer to learn then Eldar and a lot easyer to paint then Eldar. Necrons very easy rules easy to paint. CAN NOT be used with a other army in a team battle besides Necrons. And they have no seclection on weapons. ( i had a Necron army I hated them and gave them away)

I know you did not have Space Marines on your list but i recomend you as a starting player try them they are very easy to paint ( use spry paint and detail them with a brush) the rules are simple they have great armor you dont have to spend assloads of money on them to get a good starting army. And play them until you know the rules really well and you have seen and fought other armys so you can make an informed decition.

I also recomend that you only buy a codex or two tomorrow and read them before you spend a large sum of money it will help you make a dection on what army you want to play. You might read something that you dont like, but if you buy the stuff and then find out your stuck with it.

But with what ever you decide to go with welcome to Warhammer 40K

Happy Gaming and good luck

How and what imperial democracy is going on?

the EU countries, especially Britain,France and Germany have many Universities which are based on some political thought. For example, Anglo-Sakson pozitivist school, Kantian school, Frankfurt School....etc. in these schools, there are many famous thinkers who have open minded and they have created many intellectuals. However, some of them have different aims that they have serviced "imperial democracy" as manipulation, brainwash...etc. then, when they come to their country, they have begun to their responsibility. because, in this way, they have earned money and academic degree. Actually, most of them have aducated in these school with scholarship. if you have deep informations about all these political thought or schools, you have also ability to create new enemies in your country. for example, most of the Kurdish intellectualls in Turkey, had educated in these schools. where and how I know them? because, they educated me also. but, I have not lost my ethics and my brain?

How and what imperial democracy is going on?
Imperial democracy makes more sense than imperial socialism, communism, or fascism, anyway. I'd say if brainwashing is what is needed, nothing is better than communism.

I just signed up as a stormtrooper in the Imperial Navy but just found out my posting - how do I get out of it

So fine, the pay is crud and the uniforms are shiny, tight fitting, cold and hard. But ":See the Universe" and all that. Look, I understand the Emporer needs to impose his Evil Iron Will on the Universe, but why send me to a Hive of Scum and Villiany like Iraq on the Planet Earth. How can I get transferred to a better place, like Tattoine?

Hey, at least it's not Hoth.
Reply:Spend some time on target practice-your bro's suck at CQB. Also, might want to ask for new body-armor.... Report It

Reply:quit and join the Jedi, the pay is about the same, and they have much cooler outfits, and you get your own light saber also!
Reply:I find your lack of commitment to your mission disturbing. However you are lucky I do not have time to discipline stormtroppers directly, I have enough with admirals and commanders already.
Reply:Your can't get transferred and you will not be allowed to go to Iraq on behalf of the United States military.

How did overwhelming British sucess in the Seven Years War lead to an imperial crisis in British North America

What did an overwhelming British victory have to do with the US colonies rebelling? Why did the British victory cause that? Or did the British victory have something to do with them raising taxing taxes, which made the colonies rebell?

How did overwhelming British sucess in the Seven Years War lead to an imperial crisis in British North America
The British committed a lot of troops and resources to winning the war in America. As a consequence, a high monetary cost was incurred also. Britain just naturally assumed that if they accumulated a debt in the colonies protecting the colonies that the colonies should be responsible for some of that debt through taxes.

So then over a series of years you have the British enacting a tax, then changing it, then repealing it as American colonists got irritated at it. BTW it was only about 1/2 of 1% tax. I'd love to have that tax today!

So the Americans had had enough of taxes when SE Asia had a famine and the East Indes Tea Company had no market for their tea. Many members of Parliament owned stock in the company and had an interest in its success. So they force shipped tea to the Americas where a series of tea parties occuerred, not just in Boston, and then 'cooler heads' did not prevail, tempers flared, and everything spiraled out of control then next thing you know we have armed conflicts.

Do you think the Imperial King of the Klan is correct in saying a SOUTHERNER will kill Obama?

He said if Obama is elected president a SOUTHERNER will take him out because there is so much hate down there.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gmUILVsCf...

This comes from a KKK southerner.

Do you think the Imperial King of the Klan is correct in saying a SOUTHERNER will kill Obama?
I am sure they will try, but remember, many people, including me, think that LBJ killed JFK. So always ask, "Who benefits?"
Reply:Who's to say it will be a southerner.
Reply:Anyone who assinates my President, regardless of who it may be ( although I will have to close my eyes tight for the next four years if it is Obama....bleah) goes against the will of the people of the United States and is therefore my enemy. And there are a lot of Obama haters in the US and outside.

I think if a southerner were to kill him, it would simply only be because they got to him first.
Reply:There's a lot of crazy people out there, north and south, and they are just as likely to take a shot at Hillary or McCain as well.

And as far as the KKK goes, I'd love to infringe upon their rights to be idiots.
Reply:If a person assassinates a president he does so as an individual. He does not speak for the South, his race, the North or anyone else. He would be a murderer. He will be committing a crime against democracy and the American Way.

*
Reply:It really just goes to prove Obama's point. And gives validity to his message he's been saying from the start.
Reply:No I don't think he will be assassinated. This question gets asked just about everyday and I just don't understand it. I do take exception with you focusing on Southerners, most people in the South are not members of the KKK and do not believe in anything the KKK stands for.
Reply:I'm sure there will be an attempt, but I doubt anyone that is in the KKK is smart enough to even get close to the president.
Reply:Well, I live in the South, around Portsmouth, and I don't think we hate people more than in Yokshire. Mind you, those Bavarians can be a bit awkward, but then so can Berliners. People in Katowice are pretty much as theyare in Gdansk. People from Seville are nice, and so are most Sicilians. What was he on about? Who is Obama? Do you mean Osama?
Reply:this would not surprise me at all!

Do children in the UK get taught any Imperial weights and measures?

I ask this because we still buy pints and we still travel in miles.

Do children in the UK get taught any Imperial weights and measures?
Kids get taught metric - no imperial ....... not in the KS3 sylabus!

We still use the imperial system as well as the metric as we are British and that's what we do :)

All items for sale are in metric but for athetics they are still the same size/shape as the imperial items (otherwise producers would only make items smaller to be 500ml, rather than 564ml).

Cars also have KM but it's a British thing again as to why we still have MPH road signs!
Reply:I was taught metric and imperial at school (in UK), and how to convert between the two.
Reply:metric
Reply:forget the states, they don't even have a proper gallon. or a proper president.

we need to get our act together in the uk, and get rid of pints and miles, the kids will be confused, they have to learn both
Reply:I only got taught metric and that was 16 years ago.

UCL no

Imperial probably not but there's a chance

Reply:No. That's why i didn't receive an offer from them. I applied for Maths and Physics with an A level maths requirement but then im only doing FP at AS so they rejected my application.
Reply:Depends why you didn't do it, if your college doesn't offer it then mention it on your apllication and they won't hold it against you. If you chose not to do it you'll probably need a good reason why, it may be worth shoring up your application by doing STEP.

Why does the united states become imperial power at the end of 19th century?

Same reason a dog licks his, well you know...

Because it could.

Also because it was fashionable. Having an empire and being on the gold standard were considered the hallmarks of the Great Nations of the world, and we already were on the gold standard, William Jennings Bryan notwithstanding.

Edit: In fact, America has been an imperialist power since Day One. Read the ENTIRE Declaration of Indendence sometime. Specifically, this passage:

"He has endeavoured to prevent the population of these States; for that purpose obstructing the Laws for Naturalization of Foreigners; refusing to pass others to encourage their migrations hither, and raising the conditions of new Appropriations of Lands."

That's Jefferson's way of complaining that the British are preventing the colonies from advancing west into (colonizing) the lands taken from France in the French and Indian War; the British instead wanted those lands to remain in the hands of their Indian allies, in recognition of their loyalty.

Jefferson's also the one "buys" Louisiana from Napoleon a few years later, with no consideration of the wishes of all this land's actual residents. The American empire doubles in size in the first thirty years.

Forty years later, it's Mexico's turn. The empire doubles in size again, and now extends to the Pacific.

That's not good enough, though. Alaska is "bought" from Russia, again taking no account of the wishes of the people who live there. Hawaii's sovereign government is toppled and the empire has a mid-ocean naval base. Turns out to be an excellent staging point for the empire's advance to Asia (Philippines) while it also expands into the Caribbean (Cuba, Purto Rico).

Just like you can't say you don’t torture just by defining everything you do as “not torture”; you can’t say you’re not an empire just by saying the word doesn’t apply.

Why does the united states become imperial power at the end of 19th century?
We had conquered the continent and felt we needed to expand with Hawaii, the Philippines, Panama Canal, and Puerto Rico. We had a navy on two coasts. We wanted to be a big power.
Reply:Excuse me. But the United States has never become an imperial power. It is not an imperial power today nor has it ever been.

As vice president Dick Cheney correctly pointed out that if the USA were an imperialistic power we would certainly be occupying a greater landmass on the planet than we are now.

Every U.S. military base in a foreign country is being paid for by the United States after we received permission to be there.

The U.S. has not increased its territory since the Spanish/American War which we justly acquired reparations from a hard-won victory.

Whoever told you that the USA was imperialist is feeding you a lot of anti-American/anti-Bush propaganda.

What methods and writing styles does Tacitus use in The Annals of Imperial Rome?

Tacitus's writings are known for their instantly deep-cutting and dense prose, seldom glossy, in contrast with the more placable style of some of his contemporaries, like Plutarch.

When he describes a near-to-defeat of the Roman army in Ann. I, 63 this is one of the rare occasions where he applies some kind of gloss, but then still rather by the brevity with which he describes the end of the hostilities, than by embellishing phrases.

In most of his writings he keeps to a strictly chronological ordering of his narration, with only seldom an outline of the bigger picture, as if he leaves it to the reader to construct that "bigger picture" for himself.

Nonetheless, when he sketches the bigger picture, for example in the opening paragraphs of the Annals, summarizing the situation at the end of the reign of Augustus, he needs no more than a few condensed phrases to take the reader to the heart of the story.

Tacitus's historical style combines various approaches to history into a method of his own (owing some debt to Sallust): seamlessly blending straightforward descriptions of events, pointed moral lessons, and tightly-focused dramatic accounts, his history writing contains deep, and often pessimistic, insights into the workings of the human mind and the nature of power.

Tacitus's own declaration regarding his approach to history is famous (Ann. I,1):

inde consilium mihi . . . tradere . . . sine ira et studio, quorum causas procul habeo. Hence my purpose is to relate . . . without either bitterness or partiality, from any motives to which I am far removed.

Although this is probably as close as one can get to a neutral point of view intention in antiquity, there has been much scholarly discussion about Tacitus's alleged "neutrality" (or "partiality" to others, which would make the quote above no more than a figure of speech).

Throughout his writings, Tacitus appears primarily concerned with the balance of power between the Roman Senate and the Roman Emperors. His writings are filled with tales of corruption and tyranny in the governing class of Rome as they failed to adjust to the new imperial régime; they squandered their cherished cultural traditions of free speech and self-respect as they fell over themselves to please the often bemused (and rarely benign) emperor.

Another important recurring theme is the role of having the sympathy of the army in the coming to power (and staying there) of an Emperor: throughout the period Tacitus is describing, the leading role in that respect sways between (some of) the legions defending the outer borders of the Empire, and the troops residing in the city of Rome, most prominently the Praetorian Guard.

Tacitus's political career was largely spent under the emperor Domitian; his experience of the tyranny, corruption, and decadence prevalent in the era (81–96) may explain his bitter and ironic political analysis. He warned against the dangers of unaccountable power, against the love of power untempered by principle, and against the popular apathy and corruption, engendered by the wealth of the empire, which allowed such evils to flourish. The experience of Domitian's tyrannical reign is generally also seen as the cause of the sometimes unfairly bitter and ironic cast to his portrayal of the Julio-Claudian emperors.

Nonetheless the image he builds of Tiberius throughout the first six books of the Annals is neither exclusively bleak nor approving: most scholars analyse the image of Tiberius as predominantly positive in the first books, becoming predominantly negative in the following books relating the intrigues of Sejanus. Even then, the entrance of Tiberius in the first chapters of the first book is a crimson tale dominated by hypocrisy by and around the new emperor coming to power; and in the later books some kind of respect for the wisdom and cleverness of the old emperor, keeping out of Rome to secure his position, is often transparent.

In general Tacitus does not fear to give words of praise and words of rejection to the same person, often explaining openly which he thinks the commendable and which the despicable properties. Not conclusively taking sides for or against the persons he describes is his hallmark, and led thinkers in later times to interpret his works as well as a defense of an imperial system, as a rejection of the same (see Tacitean studies, Black vs. Red Tacitists). A better illustration of Tacitus's "sine ira et studio" is scarcely imaginable.

Tacitus's skill with written Latin is unsurpassed; no other author is considered his equal, except perhaps for Cicero. His style differs both from the prevalent style of the Silver Age and from that of the Golden Age; though it has a calculated grandeur and eloquence (largely thanks to Tacitus's education in rhetoric), it is extremely concise, even epigrammatic—the sentences are rarely flowing or beautiful, but their point is always clear. The same style has been both derided as "harsh, unpleasant, and thorny" and praised as "grave, concise, and pithily eloquent".

His historical works focus on the psyches and inner motivations of the characters, often with penetrating insight—though it is questionable how much of his insight is correct, and how much is convincing only because of his rhetorical skill. He is at his best when exposing hypocrisy and dissimulation; for example, he follows a narrative recounting Tiberius' refusal of the title pater patriae by recalling the institution of a law forbidding any "treasonous" speech or writings—and the frivolous prosecutions which resulted (Annals, 1.72). Elsewhere (Annals 4.64–66) he compares Tiberius' public distribution of fire relief to his failure to stop the perversions and abuses of justice which he had begun. Though this kind of insight has earned him praise, he has also been criticized for ignoring the larger context of the events which he describes.

Tacitus owes the most, both in language and in method, to Sallust; Ammianus Marcellinus is the later historian whose work most closely approaches him in style.

What methods and writing styles does Tacitus use in The Annals of Imperial Rome?
Temporary documents were written on wax tablets with a stylus. Permanent documents were written on parchment with ink. Sometimes, papyrus imported from egypt was used in place of parchment. Both cursive and printed writing styles were used.

Why can't we return to the glorious days of the Imperial era and establish colonies everywhere?
I thought we had under Emperor Bush The Usurper.
Reply:Economic superiority has long replaced military might to be used for political control. The fall of the Soviet bloc is the best proof of this. Your colonies still exist, rest assured, they still do your biddings during trade negotiations and continue to supply you their natural resources and buy your expensive processed goods.

Do you get paid for overtime? If not, why not? Note: teller is suing the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce?

Does your employer define over-time as "donated time"? Is that fair? Is a law suit againts company policy against paying overtime "worker's exploitation" or "an employee's cash grab"?

Do you get paid for overtime? If not, why not? Note: teller is suing the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce?
I was able to take an early retirement, but I did not receive overtime. I was on salary plus commission on my last job, and the only time it would have been an issue was if my average pay did not equal minimum wage. I did well above that, and though I worked long hours I say it was worth it now! I will add that many companies get around fair pay by making employees mangagement, and putting them on salary to skirt the minimum wage laws. I see this a lot in convenient stores and basically any retail stores. Nasty practice.
Reply:Yes, I get paid. If I didn't, I wouldn't work it. I don't work for free.
Reply:I don't get paid overtime because I am a soldier in the United States Army, and you're a soldier 24/7, therefore we get paid 24/7. I'm getting paid right now, despite the fact that I'm not working. And no, my boss sees overtime as an "unfortunate circumstance of our job."
Reply:Law vs Law is as Loser vs Loser.

Flush Law for Grace is Sufficient.
Reply:Yes, I certainly do. There would be a BIG uproar where I work if we didn't get paid OT. We get paid OT for any time worked over our regular 40 hour work week. If the company wants extra work done, then they should pay for it. After all, they profit from it.

I also used to work for the Canadian banking system and always wondered why we only got paid for the hours the bank was actually open, instead of the hours we actually worked, which could sometimes be up to an hour after closing to balance the ledgers. That is work the bank requires, not something employees "volunteer" to do and their jobs depend on it being done. The bank also must have this work done to operate effectively, so they should pay for the services rendered by their employees. I mean sheesh, it's not like don't make billions per year in profits. The least they could do is pay their employees their fair share. But no, they'd rather pay multi-million dollar bonuses to the CEO's who are effectively only figure-heads and don't do any real work or for that matter, have to take crap from customers who are justifiably sick of paying outrageous bank fees. No, that falls to the underpaid front-line customer service staff.
Reply:I certainly get paid for overtime hours. If not, I wouldn't work for free for nobody. I used to work for Scotiabank in a US caribbean, which is a canadian bank, there was so much crap that i couldn't take it no more, so I left.
Reply:Nope, I'm salaried, so anything over 40 hrs is my time but it's necessary to keep things running smoothly. One of the pitfalls of retail management. I don't like it which is why I'm back in school. I'm tired of giving my time away for free.

Are you allowed to take photos in the imperial war museum?

yes you can! inside and out. we just went there two weeks ago. you cannot video though and cannot take pictures in the holocaust exhibition.

better still its FREE to get in now!!! enjoy! xxx

Are you allowed to take photos in the imperial war museum?
No and if captured you will be shot as a spy by the firing squad.

Apparently you are not allowed to take photos inside the Tower of London either, but I saw on YouTube someone managed to sneak 12 seconds or so of Ye Crown Jewels.

Just don't blame me if you get caught!
Reply:I don't see why not,Check their website.

I am doing a degree in photography at present and have been inside the imperial war museum in Manchester where they state " Photography is allowed". Not for commercial use..if that is the reason you want you pictures you need a property release form and possibly a model release form from anyone appearing in your images.

If its for personal pleasure go and take loads of pics...
Reply:outside yeah

inside no
Reply:stills but not video because of the security.
Reply:There's nothing on their web site that says you can't, but I would imagine there are limitations on taking flash photographs of historical records.

Oblivion IV: can you go into the Imperial sewers and come out in the city palace?

In the quest "The Ultimate Heist" (last quest of thieves guild)

I went in the Palace and searched everywhere for the elder scroll, but no luck... I got to the part where you fall down the hole with the thieves boots on. I escaped the dungeons and now i can't find a way back in the palace past the locked 3rd floor. PLEASE HELP!!!!

Oblivion IV: can you go into the Imperial sewers and come out in the city palace?
The best thing to do is go back to a previous save (especially since you've already used the boots in the fireplace).

Go thru the sewers, and Old Way...use the arrow of Extrication as before. Make sure to kill the two guardians before entering the guards' chambers!!!

(When I didn't kill them, the guards started fighting as soon as I entered their room, and that created a disturbance, and the monks acted funny %26amp; I couldn't get the scroll. When I did kill them, I was able to sneak by all guards %26amp; get the scroll without a problem.)

Sneak by all the guards, activate lever that is next to the blind monk, sneak into library, sit in the chair @ the table (this chair is your big clue as to whether everything is going ok or not-if you can sit, you're good; if there are problems-like you've been detected-the game won't let you sit).

Make sure you don't talk to the monks, at all, just sit in the chair, and a monk will bring the scroll down to you. After you have the scroll in your inventory, then go upstairs. You might be attacked at this point as they'll realize you don't belong, but just make a run for it to the fireplace %26amp; make sure your boots are on before you jump. Then just follow your map markers back out of the Old Way %26amp; sewers.

I was under the assumpumtion that they were going to close down all the plants, claim bankcrupcy and stop making crap cars that no one wants.
Reply:The proof is inside the pudding.
Reply:Chrysler’s Imperial Concept car will debut next week at the Detroit auto show. Pics of the Imperial lifted from the current issue of Motor Trend have already surfaced elsewhere on the net, and reaction has been unanimous in that the new Imperial looks like a poor man’s Rolls,

Based on the info I would venture to guess the Imperial Concept has less of a chance to see the inside of an assembly line before its concept cousin, the Challenger. However, If produced the Imperial would occupy the top slot in Chrysler’s sedan lineup above the 300C.

Could some one please give me a briefing on the water situation in Imperial Valley, CA?

I'm doing a paper that came with rather vague directions. Basically, So I assume, I'm supposed to talk about the history and water use of Imperial Valley and maybe a bit about the land's natural environment.

Could some one please give me a briefing on the water situation in Imperial Valley, CA?
rickodrums answer is not all accurate, the salt he is talking about does not come from the colorado river, it is in the land already around the salton sea, thats why the name , the sea flooded back along time ago from the mountains and the over flooded colorado which caused it to run across open land that alraedy was high in salt, thats how the sea was formed to begin with, this happened again which created a salton sea, back in the 60s it wasnt so bad and was actually a resort town, we used to have to make reservations just to get in, now its a ghost town, i can tell you about all the fun and all night parties that went on, it was awesome, i still love the salton sea,, stinks bad though
Reply:Hi, Imperial Valley would be barren desert if it were not for the canals bringing in water from the Colorado River. A growing(ha!) problem in the Valley is salinity- salt. Keep in mind that the water at the point it is being diverted from the River has been used- and returned as either treated municipal wastewater or irrigation tail water (run-off from crop fields) many times. So, the salt problem is exacerbated because the higher the salt content, the greater the volume of water needed to keep the salt build-up in the soil below the root zone of the crops. If the salt gets into the root zone, the crops will die. For more info, try a search for Imperial Valley Irrigation District....good luck with your paper!
Reply:Overall they are living on water that is brought in from other areas. This is show by the fact no significant growth happened until 1901 when water was brought in. Currently they use water that is sent from Utah, Colorado, Nevada, and Arizona via the the Colorado river and channels. The only large natural water feature is the Salton Sea, which is the second largest salt water lake in the western hemisphere after the Great Salt Lake.

In what ways did British imperial regulations work to the advantage of the colonists? to their disadvantages?

Star wars episode 6: how did the rebel fleet manage to take out the imperial fleet?

the death star destroyed a few of the rebel command ships before it was blown up and there were many imperial star destroyers during the battle. since the imperial fleet is numerically bigger than the rebel fleet how could they have lost?

Star wars episode 6: how did the rebel fleet manage to take out the imperial fleet?
Rebels won the morale high ground. Yes they were out numbered but the Empire had 6 killing blows against them and were retreating because of: 1: The Super Star Destroyer was sent into the Death Star and blew up. 2: The Death Star blowing up. 3: Darth Vader was killed. 4:Emperor also died. 5: Lost a few Star Destroyers due to taking out their shields. 6: Losing the Shield Generator on Endor %26amp; after losing not only First and second in command and 2 massive Capital ships %26amp; no chain of command left and all the fleet Admiral's would have been fighting amoungst each other as who was going to be in command so communication would of been in disarray.

However if you read the books, the Empire wasn't truly destroyed either.
Reply:Valcruel sums it up well.

If you read Heir to the Empire, Dark Force Rising, and The Last Command, Grand Admiral Thrawn shows that Palpatine used the Dark Side to influence his warriors, much as Joruus C'baoth did. With him dead, there was no one to maintain order, and no one who could wrest command after all of those disasters.
Reply:Because Palpatine was dead (so to speak anyways). Valcruel %26amp; oweaponx are just about right on with their comments but the main thing that caused the destruction (again, so to speak) of the Imperial Fleet was the lose of Palpatine. I believe it was oweaponx that mentioned the book "Heir To The Empire", it is the first book in the 3 book set called "The Thrawn Trilogy". I would say the info on this is about 1/3 to 1/2 way through the book when Grand Admiral Thrawn went to the Emperor's private store house on Wayland ... there were only a select few who even knew of its existance ... Vader didn't even know about it. This is where they meet Jorrus C'baoth who is a clone of the Jedi Master Jorus C'baoth. The books lead you to believe that the clone is insane, which he is, but other books have come out with C'baoth in them, the real one, and he is an arrogant jerk in them too so the "insanity" of the Clone C'baoth really isn't much off the mark. oweaponx is a little off in what Thrawn wanted C'baoth for ... it wasn't to do what Palpatine did it was to just help during battles and other crucial moments. Palpatine impossed his "will" on all Imperial officers. Not so much take over their minds but to cut down on mistakes and he did this on a almost constant basis. If your knowledge of Palpatine is only from the movies then you're missing a bunch of info that would make it easier to see that Palpatine could and did do this. It is still debated hotly as to weather or not it is canon but there is a comic series by Dark Horse Comics, well 3 series actually, Dark Empire, Dark Empire II. Empire's End, that sheds a lot of light on Palpatine and how he was able to do the things he could. The main theory is that massive use of the Dark Side causes a human body to destory itself from the inside out. To combat this Palpatine had a bunch of clones of himself made. Every time his "body" would be about to "die" he would transfer his conscience into a new clone body and off he would go again. This would make him pretty much immortal but as the clones got farther and farther away from the "original" the clone bodies would break down faster. The Dark Empire series is pretty good and describes this much better than I can. There are a couple of other reasons to read this set the biggest of which is that in this story Luke turns to the Dark Side and becomes Palpatine's right hand just as his father had been. Luke believes, wrongly, that the only way he would ever defeat Palpatine was to learn the ways of the dark side so when that fight came Palpatine would have anything up his sleeve, so to speak, that Luke wouldn't be ready for. It was almost a tragic mistake for Luke ... if not for Leia's help Luke probably would have become the same kind of monster that Vader was. Ok, well that was a bit of a rant that had almost nothing to do with the question ... lol ... but in a nutshell, it was Palpatines death that led to the defeat of the Imperial Fleet.

to bronte1512:

you mention "read the book" ... if you're talking about the book version of Return Of The Jedi ... that book is full, by George Lucas own words, of errors so take anything from that source with a grain of salt ... or two. When it was written there was no idea of what would happen in the prequels so by that alone there are going to be mistakes ... at least that was the reason Lucas gave when de-bunking the book. All that aside, it was a pretty good read but ultimately wrong.
Reply:If you read the book, you'll realize that when the Emperor died everything became chaos, the soldiers didn't know what to do. And it isn't all that unusual for a smaller force to defeat a larger opponent(seemly more powerful), it has happened time and again here on Earth. And they had the Light Side of the Force on their side.

What was the most important reason for British Imperial Expansion and why??

What was the most important reason for British Imperial Expansion and why??
People write doctoral dissertations on this question, and there is a large number of books published about this very subject.

The British Empire had a long life, and what motivated Elizabeth I was somewhat different from what motivated King George III. Elizabethan England was a place of rabid hatred for Catholics and hence for the Catholic power of Spain. Elizabeth gave permission to pirates to raid Spanish shipping, which eventually drove Philip the II to declare war on England and launch the Spanish Armada, which of course failed. Elizabeth also stepped up military pressure on Ireland, which was regarded as a hostile power. It was, but Ireland had no navy and was a poor country. The likelihood of Ireland launching an attack on England was remote at best. But the English monarchy continued to view Ireland as hostile, and Ireland was finally completely conquered. Ireland was England's first colony. Massive numbers of angry Scots Protestants took plantations in Ireland and subjected the Irish to terrible oppression. The Anglo-Scots banned the practise of the Catholic religion, banned the speaking of Gaelic, banned the exportation of all kinds of agricultural products, and crushed the bards, who were the most highly educated part of the population. They reduced the Irish to a nation of servants and potato farmers. The Irish rebelled very nearly every generation until the successful Easter Rebellion of 1916, which drove the British to compromise

And this is only part of the story of one colony.

That would be for the final Thieves Guild quest where you must infiltrate the Palace and get a special arrow. The jar of sand is the Sand of Time or something. And the Chair and Mace there are just props or something.

Should/can/will Russia restore the Imperial House of Romanov and crown a Tsar?

It shouldn't. It couldn't realistically. Ultimately it wont.

Monarchism is an extremely anachronistic form of government; the Romanov dynasty was bloodily done away with in 1917, it hardly seems likely that almost a century later the Russian people would begin to support such an insitution again, especially as most of the basis of support for the Russian monarchy has since dissipated (the nobility and gentry who also have been increasingly outdated).

Should/can/will Russia restore the Imperial House of Romanov and crown a Tsar?
ummm. no. France has a better chance of restoring the Bourbons
Reply:It cannot because there are no legitimate heir to the throne, by the laws of heritage by Alexander II. Monarchism is very much alive.

What is "imperial presidency?" can someone explain the jist?

Many countries claim the USA acts imperialistically, meaning that we believe strictly in our own version of how things should be run, and everyone else should get behind us in going down a certain path. Presidential Imperialism shows up when a President does things like declaring he'll sign a bill into law, then put in a disclaimer that he's not bound by it personally as leader of the country ( then again, Congress also exempts itself from minimum wage laws, and many others that the rest of us "common" folk are forced to obey that they've passed, but are considered "burdensome" to the Elitist Congressmen and women) . So, it's basically a President who refuses to believe that he's wrong, or that he's morally correct regardless what the rest of the world, country, or his own advisors tell him .

Univee is being disingenuous , don't believe for a SECOND that the Democrats / Liberals aren't elitist and Imperialistic....they just cloak the poison in syrupy sweet benefits to those that keep them in office, and never improve the lot of those at the bottom. Tax the rich, burden the middle class, and keep the poor citizens and emigrants in welfare checks and free bennies, and the Dems will still be sucking the Taxpayer money tit, just the same as the 'Publicans. They just do it a different way. Neither can claim a moral high ground, they're all out for power and money, for the most part.

What is "imperial presidency?" can someone explain the jist?
I find it very interesting that people who disagree with the policies of the current administration attempt to characterize it as "evil" and "despotic" instead of "incompetent" which is what it clearly is.

As for all of the accusations levied in the preceeding post, cannot the same be said about the L.Johnson and F.Roosevelt administrations?

The Far Right and the Far Left seldom hold the real answers. The truth, for those who are actually interested in finding it, is almost always somewhere in between. It is up to each individual to open their minds, sharpen their listening skills, and decipher what is fact from what is opinion...
Reply:The imperial presidency is a notion that comes into existence every time we get a home grown despot. In recent decades they have, tellingly, been Republicans, but it need not be so. In my life the three imperial presidencies were Nixon, Reagan and the current guy.

The pattern is always the same. The imperial president abandons any attempt at compromise, ignores the role of the Congress, plants stooges in the justice department to cover wrong-doing, does not accept criticism, makes all his doings top secret and claims unusual and unconstitutional powers. Our recent guy even has people sign loyalty oaths; a sure sign of actual moral weakness.

Many of us thought with the fall of Nixon that this would not happen again too quickly, but the next time the GOP was in power it arose again.

Oh yeah, the other thing about imperial presidencies. People are told by the corporate media that everything is fine, that the economy is thriving and that the president is popular. But when you look around the actual landscape you can clearly see that all these are lies propagated by the power elite to confuse the public.

I would suggest at this moment that there has never been a more unpopular and despised president than W; hell, there are nationally syndicated cartoon shows savaging him. But his followers, and the business oriented media claims his popularity and so people put their heads down and remain silent.

Stalin was popular in this exact way. So was Hitler. Popular because people were afraid to speak out.

That is why it is imperative to speak out and not be afraid of consequences. The alternative is to live willingly under a despot.

Is the imperial palace hotel in las Vegas a good place to stay?

are the rooms clean, is the tv any good, is the room sevice top notch?

Is the imperial palace hotel in las Vegas a good place to stay?
The IP isnt a terrible hotel but it certainly isnt anywhere near the level of any resort build in the last decade.

The rooms are clean but are getting a little long in the tooth. On my last stay there, its was a bit run down with holes in the blackout shades and a large hole in the wall outside our room. The TV was a little 19in thing and the channel lineup was your standard 15 channels of Vegas TV. I havent tried the room service but nothing at the IP is top notch so I wouldnt expect the room service to be.

Now with that said, it isnt a bad place to stay depending on what you are looking for in a room. Firstly, it is often very inexpensive especially considering what they are charging in the neighborhood. Secondly, you cant beat the location right on the center Strip within an easy walk of 10 great places including Caesars, Bellagio and Venetian.

So if what you want is a basic clean room for an affordable price, it is a good place to stay. If you are looking to stay at a luxury resort with first rate amenities, look elsewhere.

I have pics from my room (and many others) on my site at...

http://www.lvcasinoinfo.com/hotelrm_pics...

I hope this helps and have a great trip!
Reply:If you stay at the palace you are not stayign for the rooms, you are staying for the price and the location on the strip. Everything about that place is average but the location.
Reply:The rooms are pretty clean, the TV doesn't really have any channeles but if you want more channels, then you have to purchase them. The room service is also great. It is actually a very good place to stay because it is in the middle of the strip. They also have a casino plus great shows. I reccomend the Legends in Concert show. That show was AWESOME!!! The pricing is good. The hotel may not be the best but at least it's a place to stay. Basically all you need is a place to sleep and it's for a good price.
Reply:Yes, location makes it a good spot on the strip %26amp; l found that the rooms were as good as you can get for the price %26amp; no, room service is good, but not top notch, you need to pay (and tip) a whole lot more than that to earn that kind of service......

...BUT... avoid rooms directly above the outside stage

unless you don't plan on going to bed before they finish the

last set of the night.
Reply:Check out tripadvisor.com. From what I hear, you get what you pay for. The nice thing is that the IP is right in the middle of the strip, which makes it really convenient to everything.
Reply:NO NO NO but who cares, how much time do you really plan on spending in the room? It's an old hotel, pretty run down compared to what else is there, you might as well stay at circus circus, but it is in a good location
Reply:Yes I have stayed there before. It is a nice hotel.

Anyone ever hear of the Imperial Foundation Lotto?

I got a check and letter stating I won a lottery in this lotto.

Anyone ever hear of the Imperial Foundation Lotto?
It's a scam. They are going to rip you off. No lottery simply sends you a check if you have not paid to play.
Reply:This is a scam. I received the same letter and just called the bank that it was written on and they told me that it was and not to cash the check. Who ever cashes this check and uses it will have to pay it all back or go to prison. Report It

Reply:I received 2 different letters with checks today.

Imperial Foundation Lotto stating I won $120,000.00 with a check for $2995.50

Los Progresso Lotto stating I won $55,000.00 with a for check for $2900.00.

I knew it couldn't be true, that it must be a scam. Beware! Report It

Reply:Hello, yes i also just recieved one of these same checks yesterday out of silicon valley bank in pittsburg, PA I bank with a military bank and was wondering what would happen if it was deposited? It is very strange we got these checks. I tried to check into every clue in the letter and search on the internet, I also called the number but it was after hours I will call tomarrow. Please get back with me if anyone knows anything....Thanks
Reply:yes
Reply:yes, I received the same exact letter it all seem too good to be true so I called the FBI they told me that because it's international that they can get away with this, I already deposited the check and it cleared, I asked if I were to take any of this money am I responsible, yes, it takes about 2 weeks for the bank to realize it is no good then you are responsible for the funds, please do not get taken in we all need the money and we are vulnerable, get a copy of the check and bring it to the proper authorities,windjammer1303@yahoo.com
Reply:Thank you so much for all the info on Imperial Foundation Lotto. I received a check also. I had a feeling it was to good to be true. Should I take it some where to report it or just tear it up?

TheiSon77
Reply:I also received a letter from the "Imperial Foundation Lotto" for $2998 to cover costs to receive $114, 000. I called the number and spoke with a Charles Anderson, who assured me that this was a legitimate winning. All I had to do was cash the check at my bank, contact them, and they would tell me where to send my cashier's check for the winnings. I ran a check on the companies involved. The check comes from a legitimate company but when I contacted them, found out the check was part of a scam by individuals in Canada using their name on a false check. I ran a reverse number check on the phone number and found it was a private land line, not Alpha Financiers like the letter said. I am very glad I checked this out as I would be in serious trouble for cashing an illegal check from an honest company without their knowledge or approval. The scam artists would have pulled money from my account that I would have to pay back to the legal company of the original check. In otherwords, you will lose $2998 from your own pocket if you cash the check or be prosecuted for fraud by the company on the check. BE CAREFUL and TEAR UP THE CHECK.
Reply:I also got a check and letter stating I won a lottery in the third catagory. The check was for 2994,80. It states that the catagory I won in, is to be split between 18 other winners. Is this for real or just another scam?????? It says I need to get in contact with Monica Brown to authorize and activate my check.

Thank You!
Reply:we also receive a letter like yours we also received a check too. I research the company that wrote the check it is a real company out of florida. but did not find anything on imperial foundation lotto.

I was wondering the same thing, did you call the number on the letter? We have not been able to get in touch with them yet but it is after hours when we call. Let us know what you find out? Please.
Reply:It's a Nigerian scam. They use Microsoft, U.K. International, Australian, MSN, MSN/Yahoo, Global-Link, Global, World Poverty and hundreds of other scam names. I am a retired Police Officer that investigated Internet scams and fraud for years. This one is asking you to either send them a prepayment to ship your winnings or for taxes. I have found that in about 95% of these scams they do not spell words correctly. The common thread in them getting your email and address are On Line survey companies. Send them nothing and do not respond. What I like to do with a large number of them is tell them I'm interested but to send any future emails to my other address and I give them the email of a different scam. Let them scam each other.
Reply:Huge scam...DON'T deposit the check unless you want to owe that amount of money. I got the same thing. An award certificate that stated with lucky numbers 12-23-15-27-33 I won 120,000 and recieved a check for $2995.70. My claim agent, however, was Brenda Foster (the claim agent is the only thing that is different on these letters). Don't fall for this rediculous scam. Rip the check up, give them a call and act like you deposited it and have some fun with the fools.
Reply:I got a check from this Foundation also. Mine is drawn from SkinMedica, Inc. Have you found anything out? Is this check real?
Reply:My mother recieved a letter and a check from that company and i all i got was a number that no one answers, would we be prosecutted if we cashed it? I just wanna know, and is this truly a scam.

Which is the best University to study medicine? Is it Imperial College?

I would prefer not go into detail but I got 11 As in my GCSEs and 3 As in my AS levels.

Which is the best University to study medicine? Is it Imperial College?
Imperial college is on the top 20 best universities in the world. I am currently a student on Imperial College, and as a matter of fact I am doing my masters project in the medicine building. I do recommend Imperial College.

If you fancy a 1 to 1 tour in Imperial College and exclusive access to the medicine department to see the labs and facilities, please do let me know. I am more than happy to show you around.

Drop me an email on (oday.salim@imperial.ac.uk)

Good luck with your A-levels
Reply:Birmingham has an excellent medical school
Reply:The Guardian actually rate UCL as top for Medicine, Imperial is third. The Times has Cambridge at the top, Imperial is third again.

These rankings don't really mean too much though, Imperial is definitely a superb choice if you want to study medicine, and a degree from there will definitely be very highly regarded.

The most important factor is probably to choose a course that appeals to you, based on the options available and the methodology used - a friend of mine who's doing medicine at Imperial said that it was very hands on right from the start, which suited her but might not be good for everyone.

With those results you're clearly in with a shot of getting into the top medical schools in the country, so just focus on finding the one that's right for you. If you think that's Imperial then go for it, it's a great place to be!

Good luck.
Reply:Birmingham seems to be one of the best, but there is also UCL and I think Newcastle has a fairly good medical school too,
Reply:It really doesnt matter - by the time you finish your course the ratings will all have changed. They are constantly changing the course content so the quality of the curriculae changes too. I went to Sheffield when it was rated one of the top 2 med schools in the uk - when I graduated 6 years later it wasnt nearly so well thought of. Just pick a place you like where you think you'll have fun. Good luck!

And by the way, don't sound quite so cocky about your grades - people with straight A's still get turned away if they don't interview well - I should know, I interviewed candidates for med school myself.

Do you think Imperial Japan would have been an interesting time to live in?

I do. You know, like Japan from the 1000-1400's

Do you think Imperial Japan would have been an interesting time to live in?
heian and kamakura era

we had very good culture

we still read heian and kamakura literatures.

art and architectures are very beautiful

statue of the buddha amida, painted sliding door panels, temples...

but heian and kamakura era were hard for commoner to live.
Reply:It would be cool!
Reply:hm...Kamakura era (1180s - 1333) is Samurai's era. But I wanna to see Heian era (794 - 1185).
Reply:Not if you weren't Japanese. The local Daimu didn't tolerate Gaijin(non Japanese savages). Nine times out of ten ,they were put to death.
Reply:ya it would be cool. except for the fact that there would be no toothpaste or anything. other than the lack of hygiene it would be pretty cool.
Reply:tokawa era would be cool
Reply:i would of kick shguns BEEP and took over the japanese empire and it would be called The Kingdom of the Joshua the Great and most would just Kingdom of Wh*R* Mongering
Reply:No
Reply:i rather see medieval europe

Need value of Franklin Mint plate "The Imperial Hummingbird", limited, porcelain?

Roughly $40.00 to $50.00 retail online with the paperwork.

I bought a Millenium edition 1993 Brut Imperial Moet & Chandon, How long can I store it ?

Well, it will still be drinkable for another 10 years if kept in ideal conditions, but it will be an old Champagne. Do you like old Champagne -- darker in colour, more toasty tasting.......

This wine is already 14 years old -- lovely drinking now. Why not enjoy it at the next special occasion, or New Year 08?

I bought a Millenium edition 1993 Brut Imperial Moet %26amp; Chandon, How long can I store it ?
If you keep it properly you can store it for a long long time, but that kind of defeats the purpose of champaign, crack it now and enjoy it, and when you get rich buy something really old, older than you could ever save it for!!
Reply:If you store it vertically and in a cool dry place your fine for another 5 years or so but that vintage wasn't the best for champagne....is it the edition that uses all Saviogn Grapes? Unlike bordeaux's which can last up to a hundred or so years, champange isn't a long lasting wine, aside from some producers like Bollinger RD or Krug! I would pop that bottle open soon and enjoy it!

Is Imperial Dragon in The Hell a real yugioh card?

Cause my cousin traded me one but he got from Asia and its in English.

Is Imperial Dragon in The Hell a real yugioh card?
No. the only card with the word "imperial" is imperial order. (searched ina database with 2677 cards) you can also kind of tell it's a fake by reading the bad grammar at the top. I have a fake card right here, i'll copy it:

it has the picture of the card "drop off," but the card name is "beating."

effect: "Launched in opponent's drawing stage, the card can beat back the drawn card by the opponent to base."

sound like a real card to you lol? maybe if you're Yoda from star wars. he kind of talks like that.
