What are some examples of imperial wars?

Wars fought for land or monetary gain during the Nineteenth Century and early Twentieth Century like the Boer War. The War in Iraq might also fit in this category but its modern.

What are some examples of imperial wars?
It could be argued what WWI was the grand-daddy of imperial wars, not only were imperial posessions at risk but troops from various corners of the 'empires' fought on the side of their respective masters.

And Japan's war in China was most definitely an imperial war, as was the earlier Sino-Japanese war and Russo-Japanese war.
Reply:the problem is that this is a political concept- ot a real cathegory.

So "imperial wars" are like the British wars in Afghanistan or the Boer war or the Crimean war

But somehow no one puts other wars into this cathegory (even though they ad the same justification)- like Japan's wars in China and Korea or the Russian wars to colonise Poland, Finland or the Caucasus
