How do you fix an Agitator on a Washing Machine? I have a Whirlpool Imperial Series- Model #LLT8244AQ.?

This Mahine is approx 13 years old. The bottom half of the Agitator works, but the Top half of the Agitator is not working?

Reply:I had the same problem with my washing machine and found the problem to be a part called "dog ear cogs". These cogs catch and make the agitator turn back and forth. Remove the top part of the agitator and see if the cogs are worn or turn the top part of the agitator and if it keeps turning without stopping they need replacing. They only cost around 5.00 a set (shipping costs more) but order more than one set because once they start wearing out they usually need replacing every 6 months if you do a lot of washing.
