What is imperial platinum with respect to jewelry?

I was looking at a ring setting and the website said that it was available in 18K white gold and imperial platinum, I have no idea what imperial platinum is.

What is imperial platinum with respect to jewelry?
As someone who sells jewelry, I believe that the title Imperial Platinum is used in a similar context to saying imperial jade, or royal ruby. In the past it was only the ruling classes that could afford these things.

Platinum is an extremely rare metal, being only 5ppb of the earths crust and as a result is around twice the price of gold also very difficult to work. All these factors make jewelry in this metal something that is rare, expensive and as a result desirable in society.

In the 18th century, the rarity of platinum made King Louis XV of France declare it to be the only metal fit for a king and it was used in manufacture of the Faberge eggs made for the Imperial Russian court and also other royal houses in their crown jewels.

Based on my knowledge and considered opinion, Imperial platinum is just a term to dress up its perceived value.
