What are the main differences between the metric and imperial (American) systems of measurement?

How many pounds in a kilogram? If something weights 64 KGs how many pounds is that?

What are the main differences between the metric and imperial (American) systems of measurement?
1 kilogram = 2.20462262 pounds

64 KG = 141.09584768
Reply:2.2 lbs per kg. 64x2.2=140.8 lbs.

The main difference is that the metric system is a breeze to use, and all the scientific measurements are given in metric. Since it's a system based on 10, every measurement is divisble by 10, in terms of scaling up and down. In other words, a yardstick is divided by 36 inches. A meterstick (about 39 inches) is divided into 100 parts. So, if you need to convert centimeters to meters, you just multiply by 100. (Instead of yards to feet, or feet to inches).

Furthermore, every measurement in the metric system is defined by another measurement. For instance, a ml of water is a cubed centimeter of water. A calorie is the amount of energy that it takes to raise one ml of water one degree C. The temp. scale freezes at 0 and boils at 100. It's all good stuff. If you ever take chemistry or physics, you will really appreciate the metric system.
