What is the difference between Imperial Morganite and Morganite?

Morganite is the pink variety of beryl, named after famous American banker and gemstone enthusiast John Pierpont Morgan.

Imperial morganite is the trade (brand) name used to describe vibrant purplish red color morganite from Mozambique

The difference is in the color and marketing technique, which is very common in the gem trade ( using names like imperial topaz, pigeon blood ruby, etc)

An example of what can be called imperial morganite: http://www.icgems.com/gemstones/detail/?...

What is the difference between Imperial Morganite and Morganite?
Morganite is a member of the beryl family that includes emerald. It used to be called just plain old "pink beryl". Remember that synthetic morganite is around so beware of bargains. Don't spend too much time looking for inclusions - you probably wouldn't find any in natural stone.

Natural Morganits is often heated to improve its colour. As with all coloured gemstones the depth and evenness of the colour are all important. So a very pale pink should be a lot less than a deeper salmon pink.

"Imperial" is a term used loosely to denote high quality - though unfortunately in my experience this is often not the case. Caveat emptor - let the buyer beware.
Reply:I don't think there is any difference. The only places I can find reference to "Imperial Morganite" is in a couple of dozen jewelry catelogues... but even there they aren't saying "Impreial Morganite is better than Morganite."

As for what is Morganite - see the link
