Why did the Nazis ally with Imperial Japan?

If the Nazis believed in the "superiority" of the "white race", wasn't allying themselves with an Asian people against their racist beliefs?





Also, didn't Imperial Japan supposedly stand against the "Imperialistic Europeans"?





What would have happened if the Axis won? Do you think this alliance would have continued after the war?

Why did the Nazis ally with Imperial Japan?
There's an ancient saying that's the root of political alliances: "The enemy of my enemy is my friend". The Japanese believed they were the master race at least as much as the Germans did, but they had common enemies and it suited them well to be allies. Germany didn't have anything Japan wanted immediately and vice versa, but both could cause lots of trouble for the other's enemies and they could always fight each other later for the championship of the World.


Hitler also had many Arab allies in spite of his extreme anti-Semitism (ironic since Arabs and Jews are both technically semitic, though the term anti-Semitic has come to mean anti-Jewish). The Muslims of Yugoslavia actually fielded Nazi regiments.


Had, gods forbid, the Axis won, Japan would have taken over Asia, Germany would have taken over Europe and North Africa, and eventually Asia Minor and or the Americas would have been a very bloody battleground.
Reply:You have to remember that Hitler's ambitions were in Eastern Europe, not Asia. He didn't give a rat's rump about Asia. So why not ally with the Japs? They were kicking butt all over the continent, and they'd even kicked the Russians' collective butt back in 1905, and that was before the Communist Revolution and Stalinist purges killed off all the able military officers! He was probably hoping they'd force Russia into the same two front war he got sucked into. Fortunately for all of us, however, they were purely mercenary bastards who were only out for themselves and no one else!
Reply:I believe it was a way to get the Japanese involved in a future war with the Soviet Union, despite Japan's non-aggression pact with the Soviets. It was to keep enough Soviet troops bogged down on the Eastern side of the country facing the Japanese. It didn't work of course. They would have eventually fought each other had they made it that far.
