How do you get to a revolution, or even imperial age in a regular skirmish on Age of Empires three?
Im stuck at Industrial age i think, its not letting me upgrade anymore. Please help
How do you get to a revolution, or even imperial age in a regular skirmish on Age of Empires three?
you need to get 10000 gold and 18000 food and then go to the town centerafter you build atleast 2buildings in castle age and then click to go to the next age.
Reply:You should be able to get to age V in AOE III. It's strictly based on resources. Earlier versions of AOE required you to build certain buildings each age, but AOE III is entirely based on having sufficient resources.
Resources required (assuming you aren't starting in Nomad mode) are as follows (may vary slightly be civilization and improvements):
-800 food
-1200 food and 1000 gold
-2000 food and 1200 gold
-4000 food and 4000 gold (I believe)
In a player-vs-computer game, I rarely get to age V. I usually wipe the computer during age IV or am getting overrun so badly that I resign.

What is the Imperial Palace in Las Vegas like?
What are the good points and bad points to this hotel and casino? We are staying there in 2 weeks.
What is the Imperial Palace in Las Vegas like?
The good points is that it is cheap there is monorail service in the back, The rooms are ok for the price. It is right in the middle of all the action. There is club right in front that doesn't make you wait an hour to get in.
The bad points. It's one of the older casinos on the strip, the pool is not that good. The casino is small and smokey. The elevators are extremely slow (but there are some elevators in the back of the hotel that no one uses much which are much quicker)
You don't spend to much time in your room, I didnt' do to much gambling at the casino while I was there, just wasn't much fun for me and my friends. Good thing about it being in the middle of the strip you are close to a lot other casinos to gamble at and the outdoor attractions are not that far.
Reply:I personally like the Imperial Palace - I am kinda bummed that they are taking it down. It's a cheap room, but it is in a prime location. And the cost is not bad - Granted, I would not go there for some romantic getaway or anything - Imperial Palace is a great hotel for Girls or Guys trips to vegas where you are only going to need the room to sleep, shower and get ready - Plus they have balconies on each room and you get some crazy girls gone wild parties on the balconies! I love it!
Reply:We didn't stay there but next door at the Flamingo. The Imperial is perfectly sited in the heart of the strip and offers one of the best " budget" shows in Legends in Concert which is well worth seeing. The casino isn't great but if you go to Vegas to gamble i dare say you will want to go to loads of casinos not just the one in your own hotel. All in all its a cheap room in an ideal spot but i would question why anyone would want to go to Las Vegas for more than 3 or 4 days unless they are a professional gambler. If you havn't booked it already take a good look at escaping Las Vegas for at least a week and head off to the real USA and visit the Grand Canyon and somewhere like Flagstaff or Sedona in Arizona. Have a good trip.
Reply:Stayed there 3 times, it is very well situated on the strip great for the Monorail. Sure it is one of the older ones, BUT who goes to Las Vegas to sit in the room, it really is only a place to sleep. I found it clean and that is important. Have fun

How many imperial stormstroopers and officers were killed when the Death Star blew up in 1977?
I am researching the Battle of Yavin for my history exam. I am curious what was the death toll in the 1977 battle. How many were on the Death Star when it was blown up? Thank you
How many imperial stormstroopers and officers were killed when the Death Star blew up in 1977?
First of all the Death Star was not blown up by the Rebel Alliance but by the Bush Administration which had placed explosives within the star. It was done to give the empire a reason to invade the Dagobah system and secure the dilithium crystals. It was all a great conspiracy.

265,675 Station crew
52,276 gunners
607,360 troops
25,984 Stormtroopers
42,782 ship support staff
167,216 pilots and support crew

4 strike cruisers
3,600 assault shuttles
1,400 AT-ATs
1,400 AT-STs

a variable number of support, recon and assault droids
Tours on the Death Star last at least 180 days and usually much longer. Personnel are often in deep space without leave for months at a time, and since the location of the Death Star is always classified, contact with family or friends is strictly prohibited. This can make life on the Death Star very difficult. To ease the burden of this duty the station is outfitted with many civilian amenities. The general sector of each zone in the Death Star has a park, shopping centers and recreation areas that include restaurants, a cinema and fitness centers.
they also dont mention any independent contractors on board...
Reply:Not only were stormtroopers and officers killed in the explosion, but a number of civilian contractors were still present on the Death Star completing the construction program. The total death toll was huge, making it one of the worst crimes committed by the terrorists who style themselves as "The Rebellion".
Oh, and the battle didn't happen in 1977. It happened a Long Time Ago in a Galaxy Far Away.

Reply:The real question should be how many were killed when the second Death Star was destroyed. The first time it was destroyed it was totally operational meaning it was fully staffed with stormtroopers and officers. However, when the second one was destroyed it was still under construction. How many independent contractors were aboard? There is no way that the Imperial Army could have had enough resources to finish the Death Star. How many roofers and plumbers were aboard. That is the real question.

What were the standard equipment/weapons issued to soldiers in the Japanese Imperial Army during WWII?
Japans arsenal in ww11 was out of date with very few submachine guns to go around, the main armament was the arisaka 7.7 mm or 6.5 mm, it was a heavy slow firing bolt action rifle with a 5 mag capacity, it did not compare well with the automatic garands, tompsons and bars carried by the usa, nor did there tanks which were lightly armoured, poorly armed and badly suspended, easy prey for the shermans of the day, japans anti tank weapons consisted of satchel charges or a horrifying weapon which consisted of a length of bamboo, a charge on the end which the soldier would carry with the stick , place onto the side of a tank and he pulled a string which detonated the charge and disabled the tank and killed the soldier, haha, crazy but true, to list the rest of the weapons used would take pages but the common weapon carried was the arisaka. I would not wanted to fight in there army, they didnt have a chance!
And snowy is wrong about fighter superiority, they were off the start of the war but british hurricanes, us p47 and 51s replace the out of date style they used at the outtake quickly and began knocking down jap zeroes at an astonishing rate!
What were the standard equipment/weapons issued to soldiers in the Japanese Imperial Army during WWII?
Cruelty, determination, blind obedience, physical fitness................oh yes and a 40 year old rifle, a copy of the bren gun, some tanks made out of baked bean cans, and sharp swords.
Their Navy had some of the largest ships afloat, and the airforce had a superb air superiority fighter called the Navy Type Zero (usually called the Zero).
Reply:Depends on the unit. the Standard rifle was a copy of the German mauser. A bolt action rifle that was highly accurate.
Reply:Not too many of those guys left to ask, so your guess is as good as mine. Probably a bowl and a pound of rice, a rifle and ammo.
Reply:i think its the ARISAKA rifle, with a sword bayonet, of course the katana sword too

What is the role of the imperial family in Japan?
I need help, please!
I'm doing an essay for social.
What is the role of the imperial family in Japan?
Their role is mostly of a traditional and ceremonial one. In Japanese culture, tradition and ceremony are very important, although no real governing or ruling power legally exists. However, one should not discount the leverage of an imperial family. Cultural biases and pressure can be powerful tools if wielded craftily. For an in-depth study, read anything about MacArthur and the terms of surrender concerning Japan. Good luck with your essay.
Reply:Prior to WWII, the Emperor was considered a god. That is one of the reasons that the Japanese were so averse to surrender: fear that their god would be an enemy's prisoner.
Now he is a link to ancient fuedal Japan, when Tokyo was called Edo, and warlords and samurai
were the nobility of Japan. The Emperor still remains sequestered away from common people.

Reply:the grandparents watch the house, the parents work, the kids do anything that the adults tell them to do
Reply:As far as I know, the imperial family in Japan has nothing more than a figurehead status. They lost any real governing power after WWII. They are mostly just there for tradition. I'm not 100% positive, but I think that is what the purpose of the imperial family is.

How do you leave Shivering isles and go back to Imperial City?
Hello, I have Oblivion and Shivering Isles installed for the pc and I am two thirds of the way through the main quest. I have downloaded and installed a couple of mods which need me to go back to Imperial City and then back again to SI. Is there a shortcut back to Imperial City or the mainland from Shivering Isles. I cannot see any map markers for the Oblivion mainland from SI.

How do you leave Shivering isles and go back to Imperial City?
You have to go back out the way you came in. You can fast travel to the portal, which then leads to Tamriel, but that is about as quick as you can go.

I need information or a website on how to take care of an Imperial Shih Tzu puppie.?
My mom is going to go get a Imperial Shih Tzu puppie today from a breeder and we have had trouble finding a site that explains to us how to take care of the puppie. For example when should we take him to the vet and what he should eat and all that good stuff. We also plan to breed him with another Shih Tzu female with a family friend. So any information is helpful thanks.
I need information or a website on how to take care of an Imperial Shih Tzu puppie.?
All puppies need the same care regardless of breed. I have a Shih Tzu that is now two years old. I treated him just like any other pup; he ate Purina Puppy Chow and got his shots at 6, 9, and 12 weeks. You can give them the shots yourselves, but make sure the shots are refrigerated. If the shots are room temp then they're non-effective and the pup could still get sick. Be sure to read the label on the injection directions. If you're too nervous, take them to the vet. Most vets give you a puppy packet that gives you all the needed information on your new bundle of joy, plus it has a records page to keep track of all your pups needs. Good luck! Remember the most important thing a pup needs is unconditional love.
Reply:1) There's no such thing as an "imperial" shih tzu.
2) If your breeder was any good, they would be giving you this information.
3) Great, another BYB in the making......

What is the difference between imperial and empire?
"Imperial" is an adjective. "Empire" is a noun.
Unless of course you're talking about an "empire dress," in which case "empire" is an adjective.
Reply:An empire (from the Latin "imperium", denoting military command within the ancient Roman government) is a state that extends dominion over populations distinct culturally and ethnically from the culture/ethnicity at the center of power. Scholars still debate about what exactly constitutes an empire, and other definitions may emphasize economic or political factors.
Imperial is a term that is used to describe something that relates to an empire, emperor, or the concept of imperialism.
It can also refer to places, organizations, standards and types, things, animals and plants

Do we need to learn metric and imperial?
Two contestants on The Weakest Link thought that cwt was cue weight and half a gross was 6 !! Since America use imperial above metric, are our schools failing kids by just teaching them metric?
Do we need to learn metric and imperial?
we should all learn both of them, I can't understand what all the fuss is about we were taught both systems at school and that was 55 years ago. and stop knocking the americans they are right to go their own way, unlike us who accept punitive laws from the EU for something as innocent as selling a pound of tomatoes.
Reply:No The metric system is world wide. Its only the backward United states that continues to hang on to imperial measurements.
The metric system is far more accurate and concise in measurement. Most Americans are resistant to change and dumbasses that can't grasp the fact that it is they who are out of sync with the rest of the world!
Reply:Firstly, there are more countries out there besides the USA...and other systems of measurement. Should our children be taught to know what a knuckle is or how to measure it?
Secondly, I don't think it should be taught in schools beyond what it is. If a person lives in a metric country, not knowing what imperial measures are is not a bad thing. I didn't know what cwt was, but I live on metric.
Having said that, I know some imperial measuring so that I can communicate with my Gran and Mum with ease as they both grew up learning imperial.
Finally, the Weakest Link is not a good way to determine how smart a nation is, it's a tv game...
Reply:Basics of one. Details of other!
Reply:I learnt metric at school and never use it. All my adult life I have used feet and inches because they are more practical. Because there are 12 inches in a foot imperial measures can be divided by 3 and 4 and yield whole numbers. With metric you get a lot of 0.25 and 0.333333333 when you divide.
Reply:Private schools are not failing to educate children and they do it in metric only. Europe churns out some well educated 'metric only' teenagers ...
So America has nothing to do with it really ...
Reply:Fair question, but I don't think it's necessary. If you're an engineer and you work with Americans, you figure out imperial as you go along; it's just part of picking up the jargon of your profession. School was never going to teach me whether 100,000 pounds per hour of steam was a lot or a little.
Metric beats imperial in every respect except geometric progressions. If the metric system could find some way of matching the logic of having screw and bolt sizes in a progressive series of fractions, it would be perfect.
Reply:Who cares......U have to learn both anyway. Why question them.
Reply:You should learn both. Many things in the UK are still marked in imperial regardless of regulations.
Reply:We do need both.
In my last job I had to deal with American specs., all of them in feet and inches, with no metric equivalents.
I had to convert measurements like 55 ft, 9 %26amp; 7/16 inches into metres before we could do anything with them.
Until the USA drags itself, kicking and screaming, into the 21st century we're stuck with having to know both.
Why did the Nazis ally with Imperial Japan?
If the Nazis believed in the "superiority" of the "white race", wasn't allying themselves with an Asian people against their racist beliefs?
Also, didn't Imperial Japan supposedly stand against the "Imperialistic Europeans"?
What would have happened if the Axis won? Do you think this alliance would have continued after the war?
Why did the Nazis ally with Imperial Japan?
There's an ancient saying that's the root of political alliances: "The enemy of my enemy is my friend". The Japanese believed they were the master race at least as much as the Germans did, but they had common enemies and it suited them well to be allies. Germany didn't have anything Japan wanted immediately and vice versa, but both could cause lots of trouble for the other's enemies and they could always fight each other later for the championship of the World.
Hitler also had many Arab allies in spite of his extreme anti-Semitism (ironic since Arabs and Jews are both technically semitic, though the term anti-Semitic has come to mean anti-Jewish). The Muslims of Yugoslavia actually fielded Nazi regiments.
Had, gods forbid, the Axis won, Japan would have taken over Asia, Germany would have taken over Europe and North Africa, and eventually Asia Minor and or the Americas would have been a very bloody battleground.
Reply:You have to remember that Hitler's ambitions were in Eastern Europe, not Asia. He didn't give a rat's rump about Asia. So why not ally with the Japs? They were kicking butt all over the continent, and they'd even kicked the Russians' collective butt back in 1905, and that was before the Communist Revolution and Stalinist purges killed off all the able military officers! He was probably hoping they'd force Russia into the same two front war he got sucked into. Fortunately for all of us, however, they were purely mercenary bastards who were only out for themselves and no one else!
Reply:I believe it was a way to get the Japanese involved in a future war with the Soviet Union, despite Japan's non-aggression pact with the Soviets. It was to keep enough Soviet troops bogged down on the Eastern side of the country facing the Japanese. It didn't work of course. They would have eventually fought each other had they made it that far.

and sooner or later they would have fought against each other

For Warhammer 40k Gamers, Can Witch Hunter Armies field Imperial Guard and Space Marine units?
Me and my brother both started collecting Warhammer 40k at the same time. He got Imperial Guard, I got Space Marines. We always thought we were just getting them to collect and paint. Now that I want to start playing the game, I'd like to be able to use both armies. If I was fighting as Witch Hunters and bought an Inquistor, could I field units from the Imperial Guard aswell as units from Space Marines?
For Warhammer 40k Gamers, Can Witch Hunter Armies field Imperial Guard and Space Marine units?
Not both at the same time. The Witch Hunters have a rule called "In the Name of the Immortal Emperor..." which allows them to take Space Marine or Imperial Guard units as Troops, Elites, Fast Attack or Heavy Support choices, but they can only take *either* Imperial Guard *or* Space Marines - the implication being that if they could get marines, why would they bother to get Guard?
Get the Witch Hunters codex and all will be explained.

How do you fix an Agitator on a Washing Machine? I have a Whirlpool Imperial Series- Model #LLT8244AQ.?
This Mahine is approx 13 years old. The bottom half of the Agitator works, but the Top half of the Agitator is not working?
How do you fix an Agitator on a Washing Machine? I have a Whirlpool Imperial Series- Model #LLT8244AQ.?
Here is a simple and easy to follow guide.
http://www.acmehowto.com/howto/appliance...
Scroll down a bit and you see the agitator troubleshooting section.
Good luck, be safe, and make sure you unplug the machine FIRST! :)
Reply:I had the same problem with my washing machine and found the problem to be a part called "dog ear cogs". These cogs catch and make the agitator turn back and forth. Remove the top part of the agitator and see if the cogs are worn or turn the top part of the agitator and if it keeps turning without stopping they need replacing. They only cost around 5.00 a set (shipping costs more) but order more than one set because once they start wearing out they usually need replacing every 6 months if you do a lot of washing.

about two mins
How long does it take to walk from elephant and castle to the imperial war museum?
trust me its not bloomin ages, its about 2-5 minutes. dnt take the tube its a waste of cash. When youre at the elephant and castle look for the college of communication, than walk down that road, and it will be on your left after about 300 metres.
hope you enjoy it, i havent been for ages - i think its free now aswell thanks to Red Ken our beloved mayor

Strike that! Just take a stroll down St Georges Road - its only 5 mins away!! Mis-read the question. Sorry! :)
Reply:I dont think its that far - i passed it last night but difficult to judge how far cos i was in a taxi. Good idea to walk though, usually less hassle than transport!
Reply:It's about 20 - 30 minute walk. The Transport for London website http://www.tfl.gov.uk/ can give info on buses if you want to bus it. Don't tube it.
Reply:Extraordinary isn't it? Answers seem to vary between 2 mins and 30 mins walk! It is no more than a few hundred yard. It is one stop on a bus (2 from the stop outside the Tabernacle, opposite the Northern Line station). It is utterly pointless getting the tube since Elephant is as near as any other station (Lambeth North may be equally close). I do wish people would only answer if they actually know what they're talking about......

I have a degree from Imperial college, is doing a masters at leeds business school a step down?
In other words is it worth just having a degree from a top university on its own or is there any additional benefit from a masters at a lower rate university. I would only be able to do it in Leeds.
I have a degree from Imperial college, is doing a masters at leeds business school a step down?
Good question (I'm not sure there are any bad questions!).
It depends on the relevance of the Masters to whatever job you apply for later. I suggest that, as well as asking here, you raise the question directly with potential employers - consider writing to a few and asking how they value Masters degrees and outline your specific situation.
If you haven't already, you could approach Imperial's careers advice service (see below).
It's not clear why a Masters is only an option at Leeds, if money is the issue do remember to watch out for busaries and charitable awards (you might even find something for IC students to take a masters abroad).
There are lots of options for Masters ... you could work for a while and then come back to the Masters or even do a masters in your own time.
I have been involved in recruitment for IT - a Masters was a good sign on a CV but the content of the Masters and the character of the candidate could swing a decision the other way after interview.
(FWIW I don't think it's snobbish to ask the question having graduated from IC (ranked 5 in the world) about the relative value of a second degree from Leeds (ranked 80), but the manner of your asking and the response it evoked should tell you something about how a little diplomatic language can improve the responses you get - you might like to consider that if you DO write to potential employers ... good luck!)
Reply:You are a stuck up twat.
Reply:A Masters is a Masters no matter where its obtained. A Masters is always "greater" than a batchelor's degree in terms of Qualifications.
Reply:University of Leeds is part of the Russel Group a group consisting of only 20 universities, thus is considered a top University for post graduate research. The group also consists of Imperial College London, Warwick, Cambridge and Oxford to name but a few.
Reply:I think it's (quite) a fair question! Perhaps phrasing Leeds as a lower rate university is a little unfair since all unis have strengths and weaknesses. But people should not be so offended. What is the point in insulting the asker?
I appreciate that there is a big difference with regards to standards between the two universities. However, it completely depends on the job you want to go into. Imperial has a top reputation amongst employers, so you may not need a masters for your desired job.
ranked by employment imperial is 2nd, leeds is 51st
see: http://extras.timesonline.co.uk/stug/uni...
But nevertheless, where ever you study, a masters will be higher than a batchelors, and will therefore be recognised by employers. And you have imperial college on your CV anyway.
It is not likely to be seen as a step down, rather a step up from batchelors to masters.
Reply:See LeaLea's answer and stop being such a damn snob.
Reply:I wouldnt be such a snob. It doesnt really matter WHERE you get your masters from.
If you stick with just the degree, someone with a masters is more than likely to get a job which you both apply for.

What's a good imperial stout that I could most likely find at a supermarket?
Any suggestions?
What's a good imperial stout that I could most likely find at a supermarket?
Jpie... You seem to forget that Great Lakes Black Out Stout is an Imperial and that if he lives in the Midwest it is readily available at many supermarkets... This time of year. Other than that I really like your answer.
Your best bet is to skip the supermarket and head to a specialty store... Cost is often less (depending on the store mind you) and the select is almost always better. Check out the link below for a list of store in your area:
http://beeradvocate.com/beerfly/director...
Yes... I know Jpie already linked to it... I just think it needs repeating since it is a great link.
Reply:A standard supermarket won't (most likely) have any Imperial Stouts. You may get lucky in a gourmet market like Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, regional chains, etc.
One of the most readily available is probably Lion Stout from the Lion Brewery in Sri Lanka. It's available in all 50 states (save the few hold-outs who have restrictions on alc. content).
Your best bet is to head over to http://www.beeradvocate.com/beerfly and do a search for your area - it'll list most of the good beer stores, breweries, etc. that are in a specific region.
FYI - New Glarus is ONLY available in Wisconsin, Sheaf is only in a couple of states West of the Mississippi, Sam Adams doesn't make an Imperial Stout, and Flying Dog doesn't have an Imperial Stout that's readily available. Also Guinness is not Imperial by any means - it's actually quite low gravity at only 4% abv.
Cheers.
(EDIT)
Good call on both answers below, although I was simply thinking of the larger chain supermarkets in SE Michigan where I have the most experience... they don't even carry Blackout Stout. We do have some nicer, higher-end grocery regional chains, though, like Busch's, Hiller's, of course Whole Foods, and family-owned gourmet markets such as Papa Joe's, Holiday Market, etc. - all of which have great selections.
Come to think of it, Meijer is expanding their craft beer selection, particularly in Michigan stores, by upwards of 30 new sku's in some stores; so the ease of finding good beer at chains will swing more in our favor quite soon.
Reply:New Glarus from Wisconsin and Sheaf from Nevada as well as Samuel Adams and there is a micro from Colorado called Flying Dog ,which is an excelent stout as long as you can get other than "3.2% by weight "beer in your grocery ,Guiness is a standard but in a bottle or can it is rather non-descript,this is always better freshly drawn from a Milliger or McAferty fawcet tap
Reply:Old Rasputin is available in the three grocery stores closest to my house. Pretty sure it is nationally distributed, brewed in CA, and I live in OH. Bell's Expedition Stout was in one store the other day, but that is mostly in the midwest, and I don't think there is too much left, it's one of their winter seasonals.

Why does Amerca still use the Imperial measurements system?
And are the Space shuttles measured by Metric or Imperial sysytem when they go back for re-fits?
Why does Amerca still use the Imperial measurements system?
There is a slow but gradual process of change over to the SI system. The change requires revising and editing millions of documents, textbooks, and educational courses. Schools must change their curriculum and every street sign, road marker, and map in the US would have to be revised.
This is a major undertaking and will costs BILLIONS of dollars. It will not happen overnight. NASA does everything in Metric.
Reply:'you know what they call a 1/4 pounder w/ cheese in france?'
Reply:The answer is simple. Would a women prefer to say her measurements are 36 - 24 - 36 or 100 - 67 - 100.
In the US women rule, so we will never go metric as long as our women have a say.

Do we? Cause we like it %26amp; we can?
Perhaps it insures knock-offs from 'other' places won't pass our performance standards %26amp; tests!
Wonder what goes in South America? Wait a minute, oh yeah, I fergot...I don't care!

Reply:History. There a lot of equipment still in service using inch measurements and a lot of people familiar with them. However in some (perhaps many) industries in the US do make extensive use of the metric (SI) system, aerospace would be one. Since the space shuttle was devolved some time ago, I'm not sure about what system was used, but I'd guess metric (SI) is by far most likely.

Why do American scientists and engineers still use the Imperial system of units ?
And so make communication with others difficult?
Why not take the "bull by the horn" and change once and for all? The later you leave it the more difficult it will be. Mind you, we still use miles in UK, so we are far from perfect.
Why do American scientists and engineers still use the Imperial system of units ?
Scientists almost always use the metric system. When they report results to the public, they may convert to English units in the US since that's what people are used to. Engineers, particulary mechanical and structural engineers still use English units, since that system is still engrained into our culture. The automobile industry is slowly drifing toward metric.

Reply:The US scientific community use the metric system. They do the same calculations as non-american scientists that require measurements in nanograms, milligrams, millimeters, kelvins. Medications in the United States are measured using the metric system and the dosage is calculated for patients by kilogram and grams for neonates. Medical calculations used to monitor patients such as cardiac output and systemic resistance use the metric system. Children in highschool are using the metric system in science classes.
Reply:Largely cultural inertia; a generation that's grown up using Imperial units will have a hard time adjusting to metric. A great deal of antipathy -- and this is my opinion -- goes to the metric system being a French (specifically, a Revolutionary-turned-to Reign of Terror France) invention. Even though probably only 1 in a thousand people remember that the metric system was developed in France, American contempt for the perverted ideas of the French Revolution made a lot of "innovations" (also the guillotine) unwelcome on American shores.

They did try it once but elementary school teachers got fed up. If it makes you feel better, many digital thermometers switch between the two systems.

Real American scientists and engineers use the SI system. It's just in ordinary life that the old English system is used, and that's because our Congress is a bunch of backsliding yellow-bellied spineless lobbyist-giver-into-ers. We were supposed to convert totally in 1975.
Reply:It makes no sense. I suppose it is just that many people don't want to break with tradition. We do use the metric system for money, and everyone should be glad we do. We also use it for alcoholic drink containers, besides beer. In some engineering work, I've used decimal feet, but in other jobs, we all struggle with feet, inches and 1/16 inches. I programmed my computer to add, multiply, etc. those pesky feet, inches and 1/16 inches. That was indeed a big help to me and others. We rebelled against British rule. Whats the biggest wheel and tire package that i can fit on a 92 chrysler imperial?
my friend :
when you say the biggest tire comes to my mind the maximum of what the company meant to be installed on the hub . the specifications are in the next link :
http://www.answers.com/topic/chrysler-im...
if you want something different then sort it out with your mechanic to come up with different size that can be installed and maybe by changing the hub all together . you'll never know how these people can be creative . good luck .

Can anyone tell me what exactly a Chinese Imperial dog is? Is it a small shih tzu?
I have tried to research it myself and all I kept on finding were sites on "small shih tzu".. Are they shih tzus or a different breed?
Thank you all very much
Can anyone tell me what exactly a Chinese Imperial dog is? Is it a small shih tzu?
There is no such breed as a Chinese Imperial dog. People may do a "sales pitch" and call certain dogs a name like that. I have heard of small Pekingese called "Imperial Pekingese"....also Standard (large) Poodles called "Royal Poodles". It's what I call a "street name".
Reply:a Chinese Imperial is what bad breeders are calling small Shih Tzu.
In reality, there is no such breed, and any dog called that is simply the result of poor breeding practices and is liable to have a myriad of health problems!
Reply:is that another name for a shih tzu?? i never heard of it
Reply:It is a genetically screwed up dwarf version of a Shih Tzu.
Don't buy one!!!
They are not quality bred dogs and they have a multitude of health problems. This is not a different breed of Shih Tzu and they are bred by liars and crooks wanting to take your money!
Look at this site to research the true Shih Tzu dog.

Reply:Here is a link for the Chinese Imperial Dog Club site. You can read the Breed Standard and learn more about the breed.
Please ignore people's answers that state its not a breed. AKC has many breeds that are pending for recognition and other breeds are still being preserved for quality so they can be considered. Most people are so worried about the designer dogs like snorkies and labradoodles that they are not willing to reasearch and find the proper information.
This breed is probably recognized by the international kennel clubs and is recognized by the International Progressive Breed Alliance which is kind of like the Rare Breed Club in the U.S.
If you would like to see other rare dog breeds that are legitimate breeds being preserved check out the last link. The blue highlighted breeds show some pics and characteristics info.

What are the consequences of an Classical Roman Imperial type of Foreign policy?
Stretching military, economic restraints on a de facto empire, raising economic debt due to foriegn policy.
What are the consequences of an Classical Roman Imperial type of Foreign policy?
While maybe you can't draw an accurate picture between Rome as an empire and the modern U.S. You can draw such a picture between Rome as a republic and the modern U.S. The late Roman republic had such a corrupt system of patronage that by the time Julius Ceaser put in his bid for dictator votes were for all practical purposes purchased. While the U.S. does not allow slavery any more we do have the situation where the illegal immigrants (whether from europe, the middle east, or latin america) are in a position of having to work for almost nothing and essentially being slave labor. Don't get me wrong I am not racist. If all the really good jobs were in Mexico and the U.S. economy was in ruins I would probably sell my own mother to get there. The connection with the Old Roman Republic is that Outside of the main cities such as Rome all labor including that of tradesmen (carpenters, stonemasons, blacksmiths ect.) was filled by slaves. And within the main cities of the Republic labor was being filled by non-citizen freemen. (Guest worker program anyone?) These were people who had been freed from slavery but were not citizens of Rome and thus had no vote no right to demand fair wages and no access to the daily ration of grain citizens were given. As a result you had the Roman citizenry divided up into the Patrician class which profited from all the cheap labor and the Plebian class which essentially became a permant welfare class.
Reply:Depends largely on the era. Rome specifically, exacted tribute from its vassal states which strongly supported the military machine. Further, the initial conquest of new territory involved massive plunder and taking of slaves, both of which provide long term support for the 'Empire'...and payment for the soldiers. Empires tend to reach their outer limits when the ineffeciency of size overwhelm new plunder and supply of slaves. Typically such empire collapses after expansion ends, or when opposing empires overthrow it.
A consequence of empire in the Roman tradition appears to involve frequent civil wars and political instability. As political authority is largely established directlly through military conquest and strength, those who wished to gain political power often did so through direct military action against current leaders. This tradition was established very early, at the opening of the Roman Empire and the collapse of Roman Republic. Gaius Julius Ceasar, wanting to take control from Pompey Magnus, then the counsul of the Roman Senate, took up military arms against him.
However, we both know the purpose of your question: to establish an allegory to the US. The comparison, implied of otherwise, is inaccurate. The organiation of the military, its goals, methods of law enforcement, lack of slaves, lack of frequent civil wars, political instability, lack of political authority being derived directly from military power, lack of plunder, etc, invalidate any rational comparison.
Reply:I think this is a loaded question. Many have argued that there was never a consistent foreign policy in Rome. In fact, much of the evidence suggest that the Roman empire expanded due to an opportunistic policy of expansion. For example, when Carthage got involved in a dispute with the Greek city-states of eastern Sicily, Rome involved itself on flimsy grounds just to engage Carthage in war. This was the pattern for the next thousand years. There was never a coherent plan and there were many different opinions offered by senators and magistrates as to how Rome should expand and deal with its foreign possesions.
I guess the answer to your question is that the consequences depend on what time period in Roman history you are talking about.

When will America and UK give up the imperial and farenheit systems?
They are both so stupid , metric and celsius so easier to use
When will America and UK give up the imperial and farenheit systems?
In the UK it is rare to see people use farenheit and in schools it is mostly the metric system that is used. I think that becuase the new generation is being taught the metric system. The imperial system will most likely fade. However some meausres like miles and for height feet may last longer.
And I totally agree the metric system is easier :)

Has anyone gone on one of these Imperial Majesty Cruise Line Vacation offers that are offered by Ramada?
These are offered to promote sales of vacation resort ownerships. You have to attend a presentation.
Has anyone gone on one of these Imperial Majesty Cruise Line Vacation offers that are offered by Ramada?
It's a scam. You will have to pay extra for decent accommodations. I did a search on the company when I received my offer in the mail. Total fraud. They give you a room before the cruise that is miles from the beach. The info is very misleading.
Also, the ship itself is an old rust bucket with 20 layers of paint over the rust and the cabins are closet sized flop house style nightmares.
There's more but just do a google search and read some reviews.
Reply:stay away. the company that runs this has a negative rating with Florida's BBB. The Ramada the are affilated with is not the large hotel chain . The boat is quite small, so if you have been on other cruise ships this would fit in about 1/4 of it. Was WW2 really a war about global imperial domination between the United Sates and Germany?
Sorry, I just can't take your question seriously with a name like that.
But I just wanted to point out that Japan did not invade Pearl Harbor. They never landed any troops, just bombed it. And the US did not "let" it happen. If they had allowed it deliberately, I don't the entire battleship fleet would have been lined up for the slaughter like it was.
Was WW2 really a war about global imperial domination between the United Sates and Germany?
Now, where does Asia fit into your scheme of things?
"Was World War II really a war about global imperial domination between the United States and Japan?"
Japan was a member of the Axis - see the Tripartite Pact.
Now, for your answer - no.
Reply:Absolutely not.
Initially it was about Hitler's wish to colonise eastern Europe and Russia.
This brought him into conflict with Poland,France and Britain and , later on, the Soviet Union.
The USA was a very late comer to the war and did not join until December 1941 when Japan bombed Pearl Harbor and two days later Hitler declared war on the USA
Reply:The Germans were certainly after world domination, but the US was not after world domination.
Under Roosevelt, the US was heading towards self-determination for its colonies, the Philippines, Hawaii, Cuba, etc. That changed under Harry Truman.

The rifle is chambered for a 6.5 x 50 Japanese miltary cartridge (semi-rimmed cartridge case)
What equipment do I need to reload ammo for my Arisaka 38 Japanese Imperial Army rifle?
At the very minmum; a lee Loader but they are slow to use, and you will soon want a better set up. Lee also makes a entry level single stage reloading press. You will needs a set of dies they come in two dies and three die sets (get the three die) a set of powder measures and/or a powder scale; a priming tool is optional but worth it. A reloading manual (or two) is essential.
The 6.5 Japanese uses standard 6.5 mm (.264") bullets so there is no problem with them.
Midway or Grafs should have everything you need.

Reply:The first thing I would do is make sure it is safe to shoot. Many of the souvenir rifle brought back from the Pacific Theater after WWII were shoddily made last ditch weapons or training weapons.
Have a competent gunsmith check it for you.

What kinda mattress is simmons beutyrest - imperial?
if you could add merit and demerit points with that will be highly appreciated.
What kinda mattress is simmons beutyrest - imperial?
This model of Simmons mattress earned itself some excellent reviews. Few of its customers derived a great pleasure by sleeping on it. But there were more negative reviews on one of the major drawbacks of this mattress – price. Many stated that the product quality was not worth the steep price of $2,000.

I took some pictures of the voucher so you can see it

Should I trust this thing? I didn't even hear the names of Majesty or Ramada before.
I receive a free cruise from Imperial Majesty and Ramada Plaza Resort. What should I do?
This is a scam, the trip actually exists but it will cost you money and is very highly priced for what you get
the Imperial Majesty name, and the Ramada Plaza Resort are NOT CONNECTED IN ANYWAY TO THE RAMADA Chain of hotels
Throw your voucher away, it is one of the leading scams around.
Reply:Don't fall for it and NEVER give them a credit card number.
Reply:Imperial Majesty is a very small cruise line that operates one ship, the Regal Empress, on 2-night cruises to Nassau from Ft. Lauderdale.
The Regal Empress is an older ship, with a lot of original wood trim and vintage features, but it does not have the modern amenities -- ice-skating rinks, rock climbing walls, etc. --found on the large cruise ships. It is a good, low-cost and fun way to travel to Nassau and enjoy a cruise.
All meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner and an evening buffet), and nightly entertainment are included in the cruise fare.
I don't know the details of your offer, but it is probably for the lowest-priced cabin (with bunk beds!) and you'll have to pay the taxes and fees and fuel surcharge.
Regardless, it's a good, fun way to get away for 2 nights and try something different.
Enjoy!
Reply:run, run far and fast

The rise of Japan from an isolated society to a major industrial and imperial power.?
I need some information about what traces the rise of Japan from an isolated society to a major industrial and imperial power.
The rise of Japan from an isolated society to a major industrial and imperial power.?
Have you thought about looking it up on the internet? It's there! I know, I looked!
Reply:The answer wouldn't be a simple.
But in Asia, there usually have been lots small domestic nations and state-lets in the history. eg, There have been lots domestic Civil Wars, domestic battles and rebellions in Chinese history.
In Korean Peninsula, there also have been lots small countries existed and flighted each other.
I guess SEA countries, like Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Indonesia and India were similar situation in their history.
Japan was little different. The first unification of Japanese nation (people) were done by Toyotomi Hideyoshi, he made it completely with reducing all the Daimyo (feudal lords) to obedience. It was late 16th century (1590-91).
In 1867 at Paris Expo in France, Japanese Edo government (Tokugawa shogunate) and Satsuma Domain took part in the Expo as different countries. Shimazu family of Satsuma Domain was one of the strong Daimyo (feudal lords).
There was a crisis of being split up in Japan at this time. However, soon Meiji Restoration occurred around 1867-8.
Strong feudal lords hold meetings periodically and achieved a consensus not to split Japan and not to throw Japanese land into turmoil.
Japanese are said they are the people who go solid combination when they faced with crises. You can also see this tendency in pre-war time (First Sino-Japanese War and Russo-Japanese War), during WW2, and in the time rebuilding Japan after WW2.

What were challenges for Islamic Caliphates in ruling such a large imperial territory?
What solutions were tried?
What were challenges for Islamic Caliphates in ruling such a large imperial territory?
What they did was a sort of federal regime. they divided the place into many emirates and on each one a prince. While the Califa was managing everything from his main position in Arabia, Damascus, or Baghdad according to the era. But this regime had many inconveniences: It reduced the authorities of the Califa, it encouraged each prince to reclame an independent territory and that produced the destruction of this empire.
Reply:Ruling of such a large imperial territory was a tough job. They had made many such ways of ruling this empire by giving or donating bigger lands to their people. People such as their trustworthy bodyguards etc.. which their decendents till now ruling.

How much power does the Imperial Household Agency command?
I read an article about the public rebuking of a Japanese prince by this agency, and read his remarks on how this agency prohibits his wife from having much of a life.
How much power does the Imperial Household Agency command?
The Imperial Household Agency basically rules the Japanese Imperial Family.
The current Crown Prince Naruhito and Crown Princess Masako have both accused the IHA to be the main reason of the nervous breakdown the Princess suffered for a few years.
The current Empress Michiko (first commoner to marry the Imperial Family) suffered 2 breakdowns, shortly after her marriage and in 1990s, mainly because of the pressure from the IHA. As a result of the breakdowns, she had lost her voice for several months.
It is also rumoured that after her marriage, Michiko was disgusted to be regarded just as children bearer, and she underwent an abortion, just to oppose the IHA.
Perhaps one of the strongest, and most controversial, display of their powers came after the announcement of the third pregnancy of Princess Kiko, the wife of the second son of the Emperor and Empress, Akishino.
According to the Japanese succession rules, only males can succeed to the Throne. The Crown Prince and Princess have only 1 daughter, Princess Aiko. Prince and Princess Akishino had 2 daughters, Mako and Kako.
Since there were no males in the immediate family, The government wanted to change succession laws to allow Princess Aiko succeed one day.
However, just as it looked certain the governent will change the laws, Princess Kiko announced her pregnancy. Many believe (and not without reason) that she was ordered by IHA to undergo a fertility treatment to get pregnant.
Princess Kiko gave brith to a boy, and the government dropped plans of changes.
Currently Prince Hisahito (the son of Prince Akishino and Princess Kiko) is 3rd in the line of the succession, after Crown Prince Naruhito and Prince Akishino.
It is quite well known that IHA favours Prince Akishino over Crown Prince Naruhito. The latter was very vocal in supporting his wife and blamed the IHA for Masako's breakdowns. Akishino, on the other hand, is the good boy in the family: loyal, traditional, always doing what he is told. So it was hardly a surprise Akishino got 'selected' to succeed his brother, rather then allowing Princess Aiko succeed Naruhito.
Reply:The Imperial Household Agency is a government agency of Japan in charge of the state matters concerning Japan's imperial family and also keeping the Privy Seal and the State Seal. They basically control the Japanese royal family, and literally "watch" over every member of the royal family (23 members in total). They control their image, their speech, how they should be educated, where they go, what to eat, what to wear, and everything must be done according to traditions etc. Any Imperial laws that governs the royal family is passed by the Imperial Houseold Agency, for example, The Imperial Household Law of 1947 is a statute in Japanese law that governs the line of imperial succession, the membership of the imperial family, and several other matters pertaining to the administration of the Imperial Household.
The agency's headquarters is located within the grounds of the Imperial Palace in Tokyo. Apart from the responsibilities of the daily runnings, such as state visits, organizing events, preservation of traditional culture, administrative functions, etc., the agency is also responsible for the various imperial residences scattered throughout the country. Visitors who wish to tour the Kyoto Gosho, the Katsura Detached Palace, and other sites, should register for guided tours with the agency first.
The Agency has responsibility for the health, security and travel arrangements of the Imperial family, including maintaining the Imperial line. A "Grand Master of the Household" helps manage the schedules, dining menus, and household maintenance for the family. The Agency has frequently been criticized for isolating members of the Imperial Family from the Japanese public, and for insisting on hidebound customs rather than permitting a more approachable, populist monarchy. These criticisms have become more muted in recent years; Emperor Akihito has himself done much to make the Japanese monarchy less aloof.

In your answer to the question about where you fish the most, you said you fish Lake Castaic. Check out these stats:

What is the Minimum GCSE grades that Cambridge, Oxford and Imperial Universities could accept.?
I know that you need perfect A %26amp; AS levels, but i just want to ask what is the minimum A*s that one could get and still have a good chance of joining, some people say that there are people with only 4 A*s, some As and one or two Bs and still got accepted to Cambridge and its the same i heard for Oxford.
Can you please give certain answers as i really want to know what is actually the MINIMUM. So could you please help me if you actually experienced or have seen this happen.
What is the Minimum GCSE grades that Cambridge, Oxford and Imperial Universities could accept.?
I don't know about Imperial as it's not completely in the same league as Oxford and Cambridge, but Oxbridge don't have a set minimum standard. However when I was at Oxford most of the students, including me, had a mixture of A*s and As, in varying quantities. There were a couple of people who had the odd B but they really were the exception.

During the 1890’s, the United States acquired colonies for the first time and thus became an imperial power.
what does this question even mean?
During the 1890’s, the United States acquired colonies for the first time and thus became an imperial power.
When America beat the Spanish in the Spanish American war, they got Puerto Rico, The Phillipines and some other islands from Spain. This made America an imperial power.
Imperial means they have an empire.
